MULTIS 636   MUCH MORE THAN A CRANE!

After a few months from its official launch, the multipurpose new product of the Piedmontese manufacturer meets the first market favours.

A well balanced coupling, that joins the features of a mobile pick and carry with those of an industrial telehandler.

Fabio Vercelli Galizia, Managing Director of Galizia believes that invention may be the weapon for fighting economic stagnation and his convictions always become new proposals for the future market, inspired by the final clients needs,   taken as the starting point for reflections upon new planning ideas.

So it was for the new Multis 636, defined “much more than a crane” by his manufacturer, who since 1989 has made mobile pick and carry cranes the main core business of his company.

As a matter of fact, Multis 636 adds to the unmistakable module of an electric crane the handiness of an industrial multifunction telehandler, and can lift 6 ton by its main hook or 3, 5 tons by its forks,

The many functions of this crane are particularly evident looking at the structure of its lowered boom that allows an easy access to vans or low spaces.

Hybrid and multipurpose

The new Multis 636 has a very compact structure: length 3, 3 m, width m 1, 73, height 2 m.

It has a very narrow steering - 90° on the rear axle, assisted by the front motors counter rotation- that goes along with the front drive, with two motors, with AC propellers   that allow the crane full rotation, while an AC motor is implemented for handling the hydraulic part of the crane.

A wide range of accessories can be fastened to the front tool holder plate, such as forks, with side shifter too, bucket, operator platform, full winch system,  as well as many options of searcher hooks, extensions and many more...

Fabio Vercelli Galizia explains that Multis 636 originates from Galizia experience as manufacturers of pick and carry cranes  as, since 1989 when they started this activity, they  have been producing cranes customized according to some of the clients special requests, with accessories such as forks, operator platforms for maintenance or small buckets for special handling.

“The solutions that have been found along the years, also by our competitors,  were always,  in my opinion,  forced  implementations on a mobile crane, due its specific  characteristics, such as the boom fulcrums, and the absence of a dedicated hydraulic auto levelling system.”

Galizia followed also another suggestion, made by the hiring companies. “In their fleets they wanted a machine with the features of a   fork lift and those of a telehandler, all rolled in one, but still maintaining the dynamic features of a mobile crane.”

The first positive comments made by the hiring companies confirm the validity of this intuition. “ They  realize that now they can have an electric mobile crane with a permanent top hook, providing  all those specific applications required by many final users, and at the same time a full service  industrial telehandler, with an auto levelling front tool holder plate, granting a quick  and very efficient  fastening , supplied with a side shifter   that can mount  3,5 ton forks.”

Moreover, due to its very low boom system, as most telehandler besides having a wider sight, the operator can easily access small Vans or vehicles such as the Ducato, trucks or container boxes, where the Multis 636 boom in the telescopic mode can enter directly, due to its very compact plate especially designed for this crane.

Most suitable for hiring

The crane is already predisposed for the quick mounting of a man    basket, (and this is a further advantage, when compared with the usual difficulties in changing tools presented by a standard mobile crane) so to reach 8 meters of   max working height. The crane reaches 6 m with hook and forks in the highest position.

“As the front tool holder plate is hydraulic, whichever tool the client chooses to install on it - underlines Fabio Vercelli - becomes automatically hydraulic.”

If a client wants a jib, a normal mobile crane   requires the new implementation of a hydraulic system, equipped with a cylinder to move the extension, a system for moving the jib through roller or joystick, the special realization of the same hydraulic extension and so on.

Instead, with the Multis 636 auto levelling hydraulic system, the operator can fasten several types of jibs. This is another detail that further enriches the machine compared with the standard telehandler, that is limited by the over dimensioned structure of the front tool plate holder.

To stay in tune with their pick and carry tradition Fabio Vercelli is keen to remark the Multis 636 that it is a crane, with the structure, functions and power of a mobile crane.

“This model multi functionality is of course aimed also to our traditional clients. In the industrial sector: for instance, Multis 636 may be used in handling operations that up to now have been performed by forklifts, telehandler or mobile cranes, and also cater to the needs for internal aerial maintenance operations,  thanks to its operator platform.

The Multis 636 project is a challenge that goes along with our traditional production of pick and carry cranes, it will go on for the next months and will start a real series, on the wave  of the high interest shown by German, English and French companies,  to whom the first units  will be delivered in short.

Then of course there is the big bet on the hiring market, the ideal market, strategic for Multis and for the many opportunities it offers to the different sectors of material handling.

From Multis 636 design is possible to see the frame solidity, that grants the machine high stability characteristics

The very tight steering radius (90° on rear axle) is assisted by the counter rotation of the front AC motors that allow the crane a full rotation on itself.

Reduced front tool holder plate and a permanent top hook are some of the Multis 636 pluses in comparison with an industrial telehandler.
